The Market Access of Mozambican Aquaculture Products (MAMAP) project, implemented by UNIDO with funding from NORAD aims among other objectives to support SMEs to improve compliance with international standards and technical regulations by providing technical assistance to targeted SMEs to upgrade and implement Best Manufacturing Practices and provide technical assistance to targeted aquaculture SME’s to achieve HACCP certification.  

Considering this, the project launched a call for expression of interest for the Provision of consultancy and training services for application of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP systems to aquaculture SMEs. The call for expression of interest can be found at the link below;

The desired consultancy and training are expected to: 

-Support and training of beneficiary companies in the implementation of international Codes of practice related to the aquaculture production (General Principles of food hygiene; Aquaculture production Code of practice)  

-Support the beneficiaries to be made ready for HACCP certification, where applicable.  

A process of SMEs selection according to eligibility criteria has been established and companies to receive technical assistance have been shortlisted. Companies are diverse in both their size, number of employees and target markets. Moreover, most companies are vertically integrated requiring a comprehensive farm to fork approach with inclusion of primary activities in their best practices approach.  

The technical assistance to the application of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP systems to aquaculture SMEs aims to support their capacity to be ready for certification and in most cases to have the necessary documentation and prerequisites in place in order to obtain sanitary licenses from the  competent authority (INIP)
