
Norad’s mission visits GMAP Mozambique (MAMAP) – project for the development and sustainability of the value chain in the aquaculture sector, in Mozambique.
MAMAP – Market Access for Mozambican Aquaculture Products – is a project financed by the Norwegian Development Cooperation Agency (Norad) and is part of the Global Market Access Program (GMAP), concluded between UNIDO and Norad.
It is in this context and with the aim of finding out about the level of execution and perspectives of the MAMAP Project, a delegation from Norad, composed of Hans Inge Corneliussen and Mats Boesen, respectively Head of the Section and Director of Policies for the Private Sector and New Partnerships , is visiting Mozambique.
The mission met today with the team from UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development Organization, in Mozambique, represented by Jaime Comiche. During the meeting, the role of UNIDO was praised, and in particular the MAMAP project, for the development of incubators for emerging industries, support for technological advances for the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems and local innovations for global solutions, within the scope of the blue economy .
In addition to the meeting with the UNIDO team, the mission visited the Fisheries Inspection Laboratory, where they learned about its operation, noting its vital importance for the sector, particularly in responding to international market standards.
In Mozambique, MAMAP aims to achieve the following results: Strengthening the technical competence and sustainability of the National Quality Infrastructure System; Greater compliance of SMEs with international standards and technical regulations; and Strengthened culture for quality.
